My kids with 2 of their friends visited Odyssey Fun World in Naperville on 12/23/13. So in summary, while its not Chuck E Cheese or Dave & Busters, it is a fun, safe, and clean place to take your young kids to play. That was really the only part of the place that would call totally run down.but the kids didnt seem to really notice. I suspect that they were purchased from an old Chuck E Cheese. The robots were very old and the eyes didnt really open. In the food area they have a little stage with singing animal robots that come out for a song occasionally. I mean seriously, youre not going to get kid-menu restaurant prices at any entertainment venue. Those expecting cheaper food need to get real. Prices were not cheap but also werent at all outlandish when compared to other entertainment venues. Pizza, Burgers, Chicken Strips, Hod Dogs, Corn Dogs, etc. With respect to food, they have all the typical stuff you would expect from a kids menu. The place appears to be staffed by high school or maybe young college kids. It shouldnt be possible for someone to steal your shoes. Your familys shoes go in a numbered bin that matches your parent name tags. Yes, there are a limited number of lockers however they are on the other side of the building from the play area where you have to take off your shoes. The outside also did not look like an abandoned building as another reviewer suggested. Although it was raining, the roof was not leaking into buckets as another reviewer commented. There was some dust on the top of the 3rd story of the top of the climbing structure, but that would have been a real challenge to get to. While certainly not new and not gleaming, I would not call the place totally run down. The kids all had fun on the little rides. The air hockey table we played on clearly had a weak motor and the puck didnt glide as well as you would expect, but the kids didnt notice. Id say they certainly got this area right. This is important because the structure is huge and at any given point in time, you may not be able to see your kid. So your little ones cant escape, and no one is going to run off with them. They check you when you leave to make sure the combination of parents and kids are correct. Kids get special wrist bands and parents get matching coded stickers. There is also some security around the play structure. One of the staff members I talked to commented that it would be a lot busier in the evening. By the time we left around 1:00 it was picking up. At 11:30 there were only a few other families. We arrived at 10am on Saturday morning when the place opened and were the first ones there. We also played a couple games of air hockey and did the rides. We spent the majority of our time in the climbing structure with 4 kids 2-1/2, 3, 6-1/2, and 8 years old. Its a huge cavernous building with a lot for kids to do, side rooms for birthday parties, and a big eating area. It also has bumper cars, a little tea cup ride, a frog jump ride, and a massive 3-story climbing structure with a ball pit, a bridge, and a slide for kids. Odyssey Fun World has arcade games, air hockey, and a bunch of those games that spit out tickets you can exchange for little junk toys. We nearly went somewhere else because of those reviews and Im really glad we didnt. We went to Odyssey Fun World yesterday and it was a lot better than the reviews here would leave you to believe.
